sexual intimacy can be difficult to discuss.
Many of us grew up in environments where sexual topics were never discussed openly and minimal sexual education was provided. This leaves many adults without the capacity to talk about many important issues that affect their health and relationships.
sexual intimacy requires vulnerability.
Many adults have fears tied to rejection or shame around sexual desires. This keeps us silent in our sexually intimate lives. We create a safe space to explore the dynamics that impact our ability to have open conversations around sexual intimacy. We explore barriers to having more meaningful and pleasurable sexual experiences.
move towards intimacy and wellbeing.
Sexual intimacy can be impacted by unmet needs, including avoidance or pressure in mismatched desires. There also may be misinterpretations about our partner’s behaviors or high anxiety present during sexual encounters. Therapy specializing in sexual intimacy can help individuals and couples increase their sexual wellbeing and communication.
Through therapy, clients can focus on early experiences and messages they have received about sexual topics, attachment patterns, and how early relational patterns may have shaped their ability to show up in relationships. We explore messaging around body image and self image and how past relationships can shape current needs related to safety, connection, and performance.
By linking these insights and potential conflicts, clients are able to expand knowledge that can build intimacy and relationship health.
